Brian English is a graduate of the UC Santa Cruz Electronic Music program. He lives in Santa Cruz and is the Product Specialist & Beta Coordinator for Antares Audio Technology, the company responsible for Auto-Tune 5, AVOX, Kantos, Filter, Microphone Modeler, Tube, and also the Harmony Engine (which was partially inspired by Brian). Many of Antares’ plugins feature Brian’s presets and sound design work.
Brian was lucky to grow up in an epicenter of electronic music talent. Back in 1999, then 16 years old, as a close friend of fellow RLR artists including Bhang-Ragga master Kush Arora and electro hip-hopster Lucas Patzek, Brian watched their unique sound design techniques in Cool Edit Pro and spicy beat production in Fruity Loops (remove this: , which culminated in their experimental dark ambient group Involution and Kush's side project Clairaudience. --- the article is about brian, not their bands.) By 2002, Brian really began to delve into the deeper levels electronic sound design with Fluorescent Grey. It was FG who taught him how to use Reaktor and Cubase, and his creative approach to sound design and patch building made a significant impact on Brian, resulting in his contributing sounds on parts of FG's solo album "Lying On The Floor..." as well as an unreleased full length psychedelic electronic collaboration between the two artists. It was from these influences he took to blending rhythmic electronic music with experimental sound design and ambience, recording over 75% of the sounds he uses by himself. Brian is now an avid field recorder with a large collection of microphones and portable recording devices.
Brian has one solo release under his belt entitled 'Beyond Words' on Record Label Records RLR-03, released early 2006.
